Information SES Studentships for PhD and EngD Students
- Up to 8 additional studentships (covering the overseas-EU fees differential) will be available to outstanding overseas applicants who may also apply to the ORSAS scheme (note deadline below). Applications for the ORSAS scheme will be pre-selected by the School of Engineering Sciences.
- Application deadline by applicants (without an identified supervisor) to the School of Engineering Sciences for the ORSAS scheme: 16 January
- Completed/revised application deadline (with School of Engineering Sciences supervisor references): 25 January
- Selection for ORSAS scheme by the School of Engineering Sciences: 30 January. Final outcome from ORSAS known March.
- The ORSAS forms and guidelines are available for download on the right – an ORSAS award covers the EU-OS fees differential (currently estimated as £9910) and would be held in conjunction with the SES studentship.
- Up to 15 partial (~£11,000) studentships are available to outstanding EU or UK eligible applicants, covering EU/Uk fees and 50% of the recommended EPSRC stipend. Application deadlines: 14th March 2008 and 20th June 2008
- Up to 25 partial (£5,500) studentships are available to outstanding applicants. Rolling deadline – cases are considered as they come in with matching funding confirmed.
- Up to 6 fully funded EngD studentships are available to outstanding UK eligible applicants with at least £8,000 per annum industrial sponsorship. Rolling deadline – cases are considered as they come in with matching funding confirmed.
- complete a standard application form pack indicating you wish to be considered for a partial SES studentship for either PhD or EngD (See How to apply).
- Please note: a 300 word personal statements are needed for all SES postgraduate research applications, in which you explain what motivates you to do postgraduate research in the topic you have chosen and what skills and aptitudes you have to offer.
- you will also need to make contact with an academic supervisor within the School who has appropriate funds available on a suitable project, or have matching funds yourself privately or via external studentships.
- you and your proposed supervisor will then need to complete the relevant SES studentship application form together (available for download on the right)
