Scholarship for Phd Program in Norway
Multivariate data analysis of systems biology data obtained in controlled dietary intervention.
We aim to combine and intensify the complimentary skills of 11 research groups to find early nutrition related biomarkers for progression of features of MS to T2DM and CVD.
The overall objective is to build a Nordic consortium consisting of nutritional systems biology platform of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and bioinformatics skills with centres having expertise to carry out carefully conducted multicentre dietary interventions and associated animal studies. This consortium will increase the competence and competitiveness of Nordic countries in the breakthrough nutrition research and to develop dietary strategies based on solid knowledge of nutritional factors.
The announced PhD position concerns method development for analysis of data from controlled dietary intervention studies in two projects on effects of marine omega-3 fatty acid rich foods using transcriptomics and lipidomics approaches. The method-development will be in the field of multivariate modelling such as multiblock PCA and multiblock PLSR and related techniques.
Matforsk together with to the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, CIGENE, the Centre for Integrative Genetics and other research institutions have a strong focus on data modelling (see also www.specmod.org) and is one of the internationally leading research environments in the field.
