[UK 2011] Fully-funded 3 PhD Studentship for UK/EU students in Energy Efficiency and Thermal Management for Ships at University College London

Eligibility:
  • 1Applicants should have obtained a First or Upper Second degree or equivalent in mechanical, marine, building services or chemical engineering.
  • A background in marine industry is welcomed but not necessary, training in marine engineering and ship design will be provided if required and there is some flexibility to tailor the PhD to the candidate’s strengths.
  • Home and other EU students may apply;
  • applicants must satisfy UCL English language requirements.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes

Scholarship Description: Applications are invited for a fully-funded 3-year PhD studentship sponsored by UCL (Impact Studentship Scheme) and BMT (British Marine Technology). The project will develop a design approach for improved energy efficiency and heat management within ships. While the work will concentrate on naval vessels, as these are the most power dense vessels, it need not be constrained to naval vessels and the methodology developed may also be extend to similar vessels such as cruise ships and Ro-Ro ferries.
