UK 2011 PhD Studentships at University College London
Eligibility:
- The studentship is tenable for 3 years from September 2011. The award covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate and a stipend of £15,500 per annum.
- Applicants should have obtained (or expect to be awarded) a First or good Upper Second (2.1) degree in an engineering or in a science discipline. Due to funding restrictions only UK and EU nationals are eligible to apply.

Scholarship Description: During the next 10 to 20 years new automotive fuels will be developed which will be more environmentally friendly and burn more efficiently and cleanly. Such clean fuels would be obtained from renewable sources such as biomass (starches, sugars, oil seeds, wood, natural vegetation and algae) and by reprocessing coal and petroleum using chemical and biological methods. A fully-funded PhD studentship for 3 years is available for suitably qualified UK/EU students. The project will involve experimental work using a research diesel engine in the world-class combustion and fuels laboratories at UCL
