Eligibility:
  • Applicants should be classified as UK Home student and have a First or Second Class UK honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering.
  • An MSc in a relevant subject is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience of engineering optimisation, knowledge management, and decision making would be beneficial to the project.

Scholarship Description: Cranfield University, in collaboration with Rolls-Royce plc, has an exciting research opportunity that aims to develop a knowledge-based approach to optimise the repair technology/process selection for aero engine damage and a repair knowledge model to support efficient knowledge share in aero engine design.This project will be associated with the research work within EPSRC Through-life Engineering Services Centre based in Cranfield University, including the usage of lab facilities in the Centre. The successful candidate will be based at the University campus in Bedfordshire and will also spend some time in Rolls-Royce (Derby) as required.
